WORTH THE HYPE: The discount isn’t the full total

BREAKING: Prime Big Deal Days packed up on Oct. 7; the checkout tabs didn’t. The two-day sale ran Oct. 6–7, according to Good Morning America and Amazon’s own recap. GMA Amazon

On Oct. 9, the University of Michigan’s preliminary consumer-sentiment index landed at 46.3, its lowest reading since May; Bloomberg and ABA Banking Journal reported the same number. Bloomberg ABA

One survey can’t narrate every wallet, but it frames this week’s question: does the discount survive renewals, service fees, mismatched package sizes and claims harder to verify than the page suggests? We’re checking the total after the banner disappears.

UP-FRONT DISCLOSURE

We did not personally test these products or book through CheapOair. No affiliate tracking links or commission terms were supplied; links point to research sources only. Hype scores are editorial judgments, not lab results or testimonials.

TL;DR — THE SHORT VERSION

Buildium’s cross-checked Essential price is $62/month, plus $2.35 per incoming EFT transaction; the Growth ($192) and Premium ($400) tiers are below. Its pricing page and Capterra agree on the tiers and EFT fee. Buildium Capterra

No coupon or supplement sale price is included; live offers had scopes, renewals or prices we couldn’t reconcile cleanly.

ROUNDUP — FIVE AUDITS, NO RANKING

Hype Meter is an editorial fit score, not a product test: 1 = weak receipts; 5 = clear value.

JSHealth — Hair + Energy: 2.5/5; formula is inspectable, hair outcome unverified, iodine pages conflict. U.S. product page, FAQ, Amazon. JSHealth JSHealth-FAQ Amazon-US

Buildium — Essential: 4/5 for operating teams; harder value case for a tiny DIY portfolio. Pricing, Capterra. Buildium Capterra

USA Medical — Magnesium Glycinate: 3/5; current U.S. page lists $30 before tax/shipping, in stock Oct. 10, with a named-batch COA link. We omit a dose; COA images failed to load. USAMedical-Product NIH-ODS

BioTrust — Ageless Multi-Collagen + Turmeric: 2.5/5; clear blend, benefit claims unverified here, taste not unanimous. Product page, iHerb. BioTrust-Product iHerb

CheapOair — flight booking: 3/5 as a comparison tab; check service and change fees. Fee schedule, ConsumerAffairs, PissedConsumer. CheapOair-Fees ConsumerAffairs PissedConsumer

LABEL READ: JSHEALTH HAIR + ENERGY

JSHealth’s U.S. page describes a once-daily capsule with iodine from two kinds of kelp and zinc. It advises people with a thyroid condition or taking thyroid medication to consult a healthcare professional. JSHealth

Here’s the part worth circling, no cap: the live product page and Amazon listing say 200 mcg iodine per serving; the U.S. FAQ says 275 mcg. The pages do not reconcile the difference, so we won’t treat either as a dosing recommendation. Check the Supplement Facts on the bottle you receive. JSHealth JSHealth-FAQ Amazon-US

We did not verify an independent trial of this exact finished formula. Ingredient research and user stories do not establish its advertised hair results; that’s a limit of this research, not proof no study exists. A September 11 Trustpilot post says cancellation was nearly impossible; other customers praise customer care. One account is a reason to check the exit path, not a measure of typical service or efficacy. Trustpilot

Hype Audit: named ingredients, unverified outcome promise. Hype Meter: 2.5/5.

FORMULA PAPERS: USA MEDICAL + BIOTRUST

USA Medical’s current mission is “Better health should come with less guesswork.” Its U.S. page links a two-page COA for batch MN-MGG-2025-001. Both images returned HTTP 500, so we credit the link—not lab results we could verify. The page says a batch report does not establish clinical effectiveness. USAMedical-Product USAMedical-About

The page calls sleep evidence promising, not conclusive. NIH explains that labels state elemental magnesium; neither source recommends this product. An older listing with different wording now returns 404, so we omit serving amount. Trustpilot and the same Glendale business’s BBB profile show order/response complaints and praise—service signals, not efficacy evidence. Hype Audit: documentation link earns credit; we did not verify product-specific sleep evidence. Hype Meter: 3/5. USAMedical-Product Trustpilot BBB

BioTrust’s stated mission is healthy aging. Its U.S. page describes five collagen types, a turmeric-and-spice blend and 20 servings; its joint and skin benefits remain brand claims in this audit. BioTrust-About BioTrust-Product

On iHerb, a U.K. verified buyer called Golden Milk too sweet; a New Zealand buyer liked the turmeric taste. Flavor is personal. PissedConsumer’s Sept. 16 page includes billing and auto-ship complaints; BioTrust says subscribers can pause or cancel. Reviews don’t prove the current path is broken. Direct and retailer prices conflict, with no sale end date visible, so no deal is quoted. Hype Audit: clear blend; no independent product-outcome proof verified here. EDITOR’S PICK — FOR PROPERTY MANAGERS, NOT EVERY LANDLORD

This is an aggregated-review pick, not a hands-on test. Buildium Essential combines accounting, leasing and maintenance workflows. Its founders first built tenant-and-lease tracking for their own rentals when desktop tools did not fit; later, customers wanted the resident portal connected to the operating software. Founders’ story.

As checked October 10, starting prices are Essential $62/month, Growth $192 and Premium $400. Capterra’s page, updated the same day, agrees on the tiers and $62 starting figure. Essential also lists $2.35 per incoming EFT transaction. The fee is disclosed—not a secret, just easy to miss beside the monthly minimum. Buildium Capterra

Capterra users praise streamlined workflows and flag glitches and complex banking. A February 2026 Reddit thread adds a support complaint, but that’s one account. If you manage a portfolio, use the free trial to test your bank and payment workflow; for one rental, make the fee math earn its keep. Hype Audit: earned for the right operator, not a universal must-buy. Capterra 1

TRAVEL TAB: CHEAPOAIR AND THE SERVICE-FEE LINE

CheapOair’s current U.S. schedule says most online airfares may carry a service fee up to $50 per passenger, per ticket; exceptions can be higher. It also says service fees are generally non-refundable after 24 hours. That’s the booking site’s fee, separate from airline fare rules. CheapOair-Fees

ConsumerAffairs and PissedConsumer show mixed individual reports: some praise booking help; others describe change, refund or support problems. These are anecdotes, not failure-rate measures. No code appears here: CheapOair’s current offers are limited to service-fee discounts with different eligibility, not a universal fare reduction. Compare the fare without a banner, then add any service, seat, bag or change costs you can verify. Hype Audit: useful as a comparison tab; be cautious if plans may change. Hype Meter: 3/5. Official coupon terms. ConsumerAffairs PissedConsumer

THE THREE-MINUTE CHECKOUT DRILL

  1. Match the unit: same bottle count, subscription period, property plan or flight itinerary.
  2. Add the repeaters: renewals and per-payment, seat, bag or service charges.
  3. Save the exit: cancellation, refund and change terms before paying.

THE CHECKLIST

□ Exact product, plan or itinerary captured.
□ Total due now and next charge (or “one-time”) visible.
□ Refund/cancellation terms saved from the primary source.
□ Supplement claims checked against a label or suitable evidence—not a testimonial alone.

PULL QUOTE

“A sale only counts when the number survives checkout.”

COMING UP

Next issue: a public-terms cancellation audit of JSHealth and BioTrust subscriptions. We’ll map stated renewal and cancellation steps, then compare them with the complaints that surfaced here—without starting paid subscriptions just to make a point.
